Control Group is founded on the idea that great art needs a thriving community of a lot more great art around it. That’s why we’ve included Artist Services as core programming since the beginning.
In fact, we are one of just a few local organizations our size with a dual commitment to in-house creations and projects by other community artists.

Our ARTIST SERVICES PROGRAM cultivates growth and innovation in the local performance culture and professional community by creating opportunities for Front Range artists to refine their craft, share their work, and take on new, ambitious projects. Programming is artist-focused and responsive to participants’ evolving project and career needs. We work to leverage the resources and access channels we have developed, and bring our team’s expertise to bear on supporting artistic and career growth, elevating practices, and cultivating a more sustainable, thriving community of arts innovators.
Our current initiatives include:
MAPS (Making Anywhere a Performance Space). The MAPS Trailer is a box full of production gear and an expert technician able to turn virtually any location into a performance venue. It’s available for hire and provides the backbone of our GAP Initiative and co-presenting activities. Stay tuned for details, including equipment list and rates.
SAIVUE! (Safety & Accessibility for Improvised Venues and Unconventional Events). We are in the process of building a free online community resource for event producers working outside of traditional venues and structures. This initiative builds on an in-house Safety & Access Plan completed in 2021, and responds to an urgent need for standard practices in these closely related areas, and a platform to share emerging practices in our rapidly developing field.
GAP (Guest Artist Presenting Initiative). The GAP Initiative responds to a critical need in Colorado’s performing arts infrastructure: a path for emerging artists to develop and self-produce ambitious new works. The GAP Initiative brings to bear Control Group’s full spectrum of equipment, experience, and human resources on a new production by a local emerging artist ready for a major career leap. Click here for details on the GAP Initiative. The GAP Initiative is primarily reserved for BIPOC artists at this time.
