After the Flood takes guests on a 1½ mile journey through the nation’s first urban floodplain park, and a site tied closely to the worst natural disaster in Denver’s history – the South Platte flood of 1965. The work is a collaboration between Control Group, The Playground Ensemble, and visual artist Adrienne DeLoe, featuring live dance, theatre, and music created collaboratively by the ensemble.

After the Flood offers a rich experience of local nature and ecology of Littleton’s South Platte Park, interwoven with a climate action parable based the history of the 1965 flood and its aftermath. The performance invites guests to shift and deepen their connection with nature, to recognize their interdependence with the land under their feet and the water flowing through it, and embrace their responsibility for stewardship.

Collaboration. After the Flood emerges from rich new collaborative relationships with The Playground Ensemble and artist Adrienne DeLoe. The region’s premier new music group, The Playground Ensemble has brought three of its members into the After the Flood artistic team, creating live music and soundscapes with instrumentation ranging from rocks to violins to audience voices. Using her exquisite expertise with creating with natural materials, Adrienne DeLoe is guiding a visual design exclusively using responsibly sourced items.
